What is Linux ?

Linux is an Operating System which manages all of the hardware resources associated with our computer just like Windows, Mac, etc. People would afraid of Linux because of its CLI and some other reason but guys who has started using Linux will never feel that complexity after used to it.. Yup! Its really interesting people.

Linux is open source as its source code is freely available. It is free to use. Linux was designed considering UNIX compatibility. Its functionality list is quite similar to that of UNIX.

Pluggable authentication modules are a common framework for authentication and security in Linux.

How does Linux work ?

Kernel is the core part of Linux. Kernel sits on the top of hardware. Even we have the kernel without shell we can’t interact with the operating system. Shell is a program provided by the OS so that we can interact with it. Most common used shell is bash.

Architecture

=> Hardware Layer [All peripherals]

=> Kernel [Core of OS]

=> Shell [Takes commands and executes function]

=> Other utilities [Programs that provides functionalities]
